Arriving at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) was a breeze. Here’s what you need to know about transfers:

• Airport to Downtown/Paradise Island: Taxis are readily available outside the terminal. Expect to pay around $30-$40 USD to downtown Nassau and $40-$50 USD to Paradise Island (plus a $2-$4 bridge toll for PI). Prices are usually fixed, but confirm before you get in.
• Local Transportation: Once in Nassau, the local ‘jitneys’ (minibuses) are fantastic for getting around. They cost a flat $1.25 USD per ride and cover most main routes. Taxis are also plentiful, but always agree on the fare beforehand. Walking is great for exploring the downtown core.

• Graycliff Restaurant: For a truly opulent experience, Graycliff is iconic. Housed in a historic mansion, it offers gourmet European cuisine with a Bahamian twist, an incredible wine cellar, and a cigar factory. Entrees range from $50-$100+ USD. Perfect for a special occasion.

• Aura Nightclub (Atlantis, Paradise Island): The premier upscale nightclub. Expect a sophisticated atmosphere, popular DJs, and a dress code (smart casual). Cover charge is usually $20-$40 USD (can be waived if staying at Atlantis), and drinks are on the pricier side ($15+ USD for cocktails).
• Bambu: Located downtown, Bambu offers a more local and relaxed club experience with a mix of Bahamian and international music. Sometimes has live bands. Cover and drink prices are generally lower than Atlantis venues.

• Currency: The Bahamian Dollar (BSD) is pegged 1:1 with the US Dollar (USD). USD is widely accepted everywhere, so no need to exchange.
• Tipping: Standard is 15-20% for good service, similar to the US. Some places may include a service charge, so check your bill.
• Best Time to Visit: November to May offers the most pleasant weather – cooler temperatures and less rain. Peak season is December to April.
• Safety: Nassau is generally safe, but like any tourist destination, be aware of your surroundings, especially at night. Stick to well-lit, populated areas and avoid walking alone in secluded spots.
• Water: Tap water is generally safe to drink, but bottled water is widely available if you prefer.
